This particular shade of blue was inspired by the metallic colored wings and body of a dragonfly, catching the reflection of the water as it hovers above. Dragonflies are often found around water because their larvae, known as ‘nymphs’, are aquatic. Unfortunately, the loss of suitable freshwater habitats due to pollution has affected the population of dragonflies enormously and they are becoming increasingly rare. Dragonflies live on every continent except Antarctica and were around before the dinosaurs! The oldest known species of dragonfly is 320 million years old.
