Protect The Species: Raku 2.0
Rhinos, Tigers and Pandas
We are introducing three new designs to call attention to endangered Sumatran Rhino, Amur Tiger and Giant Panda. Today 25% of all species threatened by extinction are mammals.
Rhinos and tigers have been placed on the Red List of endangered species, compiled by The International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN). Sumatran Rhinos are one of the most threatened among other rhino species, with only around 80 remaining in the world (according to WWF).
Vulnerable to Extinction
Over the last 100 years, hunting and forest destruction have reduced overall tiger populations dramatically.
Only around 540, Amur Tigers can be found in the Russian Far East. Meanwhile, there are only around 1,800 pandas living in the wild, and the Giant Panda is considered vulnerable to extinction.
The Urbanization of Forest Land
These animals are not only vulnerable to poaching, but their habitats are also severely threatened due to agricultural activities and urbanization of forest land.
These tigers, rhinos and pandas truly need us humans — their perpetrators — to transform into their protectors. The future existence of these species depends on us.
Raku Inoue, Artist
Raku Inoue uses nature, including petals, seeds, leaves and twigs, to paint a simultaneously dire and hopeful picture. Essentially, in our attempt to save them and raise awareness of their plight, we also save ourselves, humanity and retain our penchant for empathy.
Raku’s artworks are printed on responsibly made PANGAIA T-shirts, made from 20% seaweed fiber and 80% organic cotton treated with natural peppermint oil. This requires less washing, less energy and less water wasted.
